Rev. Frank Philip

Rev. Frank Philip attended Unity School of Christianity, located in Kansas City, Missouri. The seminary was a two year full-time program. He was Licensed and Ordained as a Minister in June 2005. Prior to answering God’s call to ministry, Rev. Frank practiced law in South Florida. He graduated University of Miami School of Law, in Coral Gables, Florida and received his Juris Doctorate in May 1991. He completed his undergraduate work at Saint John's University, in Jamaica, New York where he received a Bachelor of Arts in May 1988 with a major in history. Rev. Frank is a "son" of Unity on the Bay, located in Miami, Florida. His mentors include Rev. James Trapp, Rev. Tita Calzada, Rev. Ken Williamson and Bishop Henry Fernandez of the Faith Center, Sunrise, Florida. In Miami, as God prepared him for ministry, he served as Interim Director of Operations, a Class Facilitator and Volunteer in the following areas: Sunday service team coordination, strategic planning team leader, bookstore sales, special event production, special service team leader, trained prayer chaplain, newsletter editor, workshop facilitator and trained sound and video technician.

During his time as an attorney, he worked for Office of the Public Defender, in Miami-Dade County for seven years. There, he held positions in training, appellate and trial areas assigned to the Juvenile, County Court and Felony divisions. He also worked five years as a self-employed attorney concentrating in civil litigation, criminal defense and appellate practice. He was lead attorney in 1000+ cases, 30+ jury trials, 50+ bench trials and 20+ appeals. Rev. Frank continues to hold a license to practice law in the State of Florida. During the seminary, Rev. Frank worked for UPS in Lenexa, Kansas in the Finance Department. He is an experienced businessman and believes that the church is a spiritual business lead by the Holy Spirit working together through all the church leaders.

When Unity of Hollywood was searching for a new minister, the search committee was looking for a minister with the following spiritual gifts: is an effective preacher/speaker; has a sense of his ministry; ministers effectively to people in crisis situations; is an effective administrator; has a strong commitment to teaching classes; encourages people to relate their faith to their daily lives; is accepting of people with divergent backgrounds and traditions; is mature and emotionally secure; has a strong commitment to Unity Teachings; is a compassionate and caring person, sensitive to others' needs; takes time for personal needs (family, social life, etc.); and has a good sense of humor. The board, the search committee and Rev. Frank believe that they were each guided to the other through prayer and the Holy Spirit.
